Computer
training for the Physically Handicapped |

This project aims
to help the physically disabled community in Taiz to become better
equipped to help its members and to provide good quality computer
training to the physically disabled in Taiz.
The project
offers ICDL certified training of Microsoft software, with specific
focus on Microsoft Office products.
In 2004
72 students benefited from the Center’s training courses,
of these, 25 were women and 47 were men. |

Training Center |

Teaching
English language (speaking, reading, writing, comprehension and grammar)
to residents of Socotra is the main aim of the project. Computer
training also forms part of the training offered to senior level
students.
Students at
the Center are mostly
upper secondary
students, teachers, tour operators and people who relate to tourists and
visiting scientists. Since the Center's opening 3 years ago almost 300
students have graduated from the Center. |

Improving of
Education at V.T.S |

This project aims to
improve the
standard of education in the Hajjah Vocational Training Centre with
specific emphasis on the car mechanics training, but also to improve
education in other departments of the Vocational Training School where
possible.
About 50 male students benefited
from the mechanics course taught, not just from the teaching, but also
from the curriculum developed by the ICS staff. The teachers at the
school also benefited from being trained on proper teaching techniques. |

Electronics at V.T.S |

Location: Hadhramaut governorate;
Seiyun city. |

The aim of this project is to
assist in the
establishing of the Electronics Department at the Technical Vocational
School in Seiyun. Part of this project was also to train teachers to
teach electronics, and to assist in teaching some classes, while
developing teaching aids.
Currently there are 50 students
enrolled in the electronics course, in this the only Vocational Training
Center in the Hadhramaut. |

Language Lab - Sana'a University |

This project aims to
serve the English
department in the faculty of languages of the Sana’a University by
providing a fully equipped ESL lab for students to use, this includes
providing native English speaking instructors and a computer system to
assist students in learning to speak English.
About 800
students have been assisted at the lab, by both the full-time staff as
well as groups of short-term volunteers. The students at the lab, men
and women, hale from all over Yemen.
